At Millie Moo Candles, we only use soy wax and cotton wicks so that you are burning clean candles without any toxins. To make sure you get the most out of your candle, we have put together some handy tips and tricks to help your candle last longer and burn evenly.
TRIM YOUR WICK
We recommend that you trim your wick before every use (even the first use) to 6mm. This helps to avoid the flame getting too large. If the flame is too big, your candle will not only burn through faster but it will produce black soot around the glass too.
ONLY BURN FOR UP TO FOUR HOURS
We recommend only burning your candle for up to a maximum of four hours at a time (1.5 hours for our smaller candles). Any longer than four hours will result in your candle running through faster.
THE FIRST BURN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
Make sure that you have up to four hours up your sleeve for the first burn. The first burn is the most important... you need the pool of wax to completely reach edge to edge of the glass. This is called the memory ring. If you blow the candle out too early, you may get a hole running right down the candle.
POSITIONING YOUR CANDLE
Keep your candle away from drafts. Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface. We recommend placing your candle onto a coaster or similar product to protect your furniture.
